Thanks to its excellent weather, the city is the perfect location to take a trip along the coast or to the wonderful island of Tabarca.  With many historical buildings around the entire city, Alicante offers countless sightseeing attractions, from cathedrals to churches, and of course a wonderful harbor area.
Additional to sightseeing, direct from the harbor area, a long wide sandy beach leads its way up to San Juan. Just drop your towel on the sand and enjoy a wonderful day in the sun.

Type of public: Young people, families with children, seniors, beach lovers and tourists interested in Spanish history, art, architecture and culture.

WHY ALICANTE AND WHEN

The city of Alicante is an attractive holiday spot that receives millions of visitors each year thanks to its warm weather, scenic esplanades and beautiful beaches. Alicante displays a rich cultural tapestry formed by many centuries as a seaport used by the Greeks, Romans, Moors and Catholic monarchs.

Alicante is, therefore, a town with many possibilities and many tourists from all over the world, which makes it an ideal location to combine a Spanish course with holidays: attending lessons for a couple of hours per day and having the rest of the day off to enjoy the many cultural events of the town and its surrounding area or just relaxing on the beach.

It is difficult to say what would be the best time to take a language course in Alicante: during the summer season there are many international students and younger people, which of course entails a very nice atmosphere. During springtime and autumn the city is quieter and temperatures lower (than during the very hot summer months) which generally is experienced as more pleasant and therefore probably a better option for senior course participants.

Alicante & Festivities
Alicante's calendar features a line-up of vastly different and yet equally exciting festivals. Alicante becomes a pyrotechnic wonderland during Las Hogueras, a medieval battleground during the Moors and Christians festival, and an atmospheric stage for scores of arts festivals.

Alicante & Surroundings
Trips outside Alicante
spaans_in_spanjeTabarca is a beautiful rocky island which makes a perfect day trip from Alicante. The island is officially considered as part of Alicante and lies only 11 miles southeast of the city, making it easily reachable by boat in just under an hour.
spaans_in_spanjeAltea makes a perfect excursion from Alicante ,and is so pretty you may want to stay a few days! Home to a small resort, Altea is well facilitated for tourists, but has successfully avoided being hit by heavy urbanisation. The little town has retained its charm as a coastal fishing village, which continues to be an important industry in Altea
spaans_in_spanjeAlcoy - A visit to this town could be compared to a solar eclipse: a lot of the time it stays the same, but for that small period every so often something great happens. This quite strange comparison is referring to the Moors and Christians festival that is organised in late April; several cities hold a similar festival over this time period but Alcoy’s is the best of its kind.
spaans_in_spanjeBarcelona - Boasting a rich history founded in the 1st century, Barcelona has a lot to offer to its visitors.
spaans_in_spanjeMadrid- Home to the Spanish Royal family, Madrid has a surrounding essence of energy. The capital is rich with artistic displays and cultural influences, which means that you will certainly find yourself running out time with so much to do.
spaans_in_spanjeValencia- Signifying strength in Latin, Valencia is the third largest city in Spain, so there is a lot for you to do in this amazing city!
spaans_in_spanjeMorella is one of the oldest inhabited towns in Spain and is unique due to its fortress structure that surrounds the quaint town. The walls still standing today are a testament to the test of time.
